Resource for Developmentally Disabled Facing Hospice Care

This website, lovingly called Mike’s Journey, was born out of a desire to help others with developmentally disabled loved ones facing hospice care. In sharing our experience, we hope to provide support and aid to other families and caregivers at residential facilities as they confront a similar situation.

We hope to ease the painful research and overall process by sharing our experience along with some tools we wish we knew about when we went through hospice.

We do not address hospice training specifically and leave that to the professionals. In the Sacramento, CA area, the Hospice Consortium offers free hospice training. Check for hospice support in your area.

This web site has been shared by a variety of organizations who believe that our experience will help their members. These organizations are:

• Palliative Care of People with Learning Disabilities Network (pcpld.org)

• Oregon Hospice and Palliative Care Association (oregonhospice.org)
